Job Description
Caterlink is seeking a friendly and efficient Catering Assistant to join our team in Newmarket, United Kingdom. As a Catering Assistant, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that our students receive nutritionally balanced and tasty meals in a clean and welcoming environment.
- Prepare a variety of foods and snacks according to menu plans and dietary requirements
- Serve meals to students in a friendly and efficient manner
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen and dining areas
- Assist with the set-up and clean-up of the dining area before and after meal services
- Follow food safety protocols and complete necessary food safety training
- Collaborate with the kitchen team to ensure smooth operations during meal times
- Respond to students' queries and concerns in a polite and helpful manner
- Contribute to a positive and inclusive dining experience for all students
- Adapt to changing needs and priorities in a busy school catering environment
Qualifications
- Passion for food service and customer satisfaction
- Basic food preparation skills and willingness to learn
- Strong attention to detail, particularly regarding food safety and hygiene
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a friendly, approachable demeanour
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
- Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and peak service times
- Physical stamina to stand and move for extended periods
- Basic numeracy and literacy skills
- Willingness to complete food safety training (provided by Caterlink)
- Commitment to maintaining a clean and organised work environment
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced setting
- Strong time management and organisational skills
- Enthusiasm for contributing to the well-being of students through nutritious meals

The role is Monday - Friday, 11am-2pm, Term Time only.
