Senior Bartender [Decimo]
Head Bartender, Decimo · Full Time · Sunday & Monday off · Kings Cross · £15.55 per hour (incl. Tronc) plus Additional Tips & Company Benefits
Michelin-starred Chef Peter Sanchez-Iglesias merges the Spanish cuisine of his family with his love of Mexico for his debut London restaurant, Decimo. Expect lots of flavour - gambas rojas, Iberico pork, mezcal cocktails and a new take on tacos with a dramatically different tortilla. Decimo is situated on the 10th floor of The Standard, London, and features two separate bar areas, expansive main restaurant which showcases live fire cooking and two semi private dining spaces; with floor-to-ceiling windows providing dramatic views across the London skyline.
We are defined by our richness of personality, diversity of background and lifestyle and are now looking for a Senior Bartender who will embody our ‘Anything but Standard’ ethos to join our growing bar team.
Your role
As a Decimo Senior Bartender you will become part of an exceptional bar team that provide an extensive drinks service across its two bars, the main restaurant, and semi-private dining area. Decimo Restaurant & Bar operates 5 days a week Tuesday-Saturday, with a Lunch and Dinner service, and a late night lounge service until 3am on Friday & Saturday.
You will of course be passionate about service, with an exceptional working knowledge of bar operations and order of service; along with a deep appreciation of quality wines, champagne and spirts (mezcal) in order to guide and make recommendations to guests based on their preferences. The bar team will also create and mix a range of signature mexican inspired cocktails in addition to mixing and blending of all the classics, to add a touch of personality and theatre to our guests’ experience.
Finally, and most importantly, you will be a host, making our guests feel welcome whilst they visit The Standard and our energetic and vibrant city; so you will need to be highly social, upbeat and friendly; confident and can handle pressure well; thrive in a busy high volume, high energy environment and can manage multiple tasks and guest with ease.
Do you have what it takes to be a Senior Bartender at The Standard
This is not a ‘Standard’ Senior Bartender position so you will need to have miles and miles of personality and stamina, be highly social, upbeat and friendly; confident and can handle pressure well; thrive in a high-volume, high-energy environment and able to work equally well both independently and as part of a team.
In addition to this you will also need….
- Prior experience as a Senior Bartender or Cocktail Bartender with the ability to engage and connect with a wide range of guests from different backgrounds, ideally gained in a similar ‘Lifestyle’ boutique hotel, destination cocktail bar or similar busy city bar
- To have proven knowledge of spirits, well versed in both classic and contemporary cocktails with a good understanding of the latest trends in the London bar scene
- To be highly social, motivated and pro-active; acting with professionalism and positivity in all interactions
- Prior experience using squirrel epos is advantageous, however full training will be given
- Any relevant qualifications such as WSET are advantageous but not essential
- Availability full-time with a flexible schedule Tuesday-Saturday (Sundays & Monday off), and able to work late-night as Decimo operates till 3am Thursday, Friday and Saturday night.
We are defined by our richness of personality and diversity of background and lifestyle so if you think you have what it takes to be a Senior Bartender, we would love to hear from you!
