A Career-Defining Opportunity

Care Concern Group is growing… fast! Over the past 12 months alone, we’ve celebrated the acquisition of 37 new homes and commissioned 17 brand-new services. With over 130 care homes across the UK and more to come, this is an extraordinary time to join our thriving, family-run organisation.

As we expand, we’re proud to remain true to what matters most, Our people. That’s why we’re creating our very first Head of Learning & Development (L&D) role – a unique opportunity to shape, build, and lead the L&D function from the ground up.

The Role

Reporting to the Group HR Director, you’ll take the lead in creating and delivering a group-wide L&D strategy that empowers our colleagues; from carers and nurses to managers and support staff – to achieve their full potential.

Your immediate priorities will include

  • Designing and embedding a seamless induction and onboarding programme to give every new colleague the best possible start.
  • Proposing the future team structure and laying the foundations for a high-impact L&D function.
  • Developing a skills framework that supports leadership and management capability across the group.

Over time, you’ll design and deliver a full range of L&D initiatives, ensuring colleagues at every level have access to meaningful learning, career development, and progression opportunities.

Key Areas of Impact

  • Strategic Leadership – Create and embed an L&D vision aligned to organisational goals and care sector regulations.
  • Training & Compliance – Oversee induction, mandatory, refresher, and specialist training (CQC / CI / CIW compliant).
  • Talent Development – Support career pathways including NVQs, SVQs, apprenticeships, CPD, and leadership development.
  • Culture & Engagement – Foster a culture of continuous professional development and person-centred care.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration – Work closely with managers, HR, quality teams, and external partners.

About You

We’re looking for someone with the vision, credibility, and expertise to make a lasting impact. Ideally, you’ll bring -

  • Proven experience in a senior L&D leadership role, preferably in health & social care.
  • Strong knowledge of CQC / CI regulations and UK care sector frameworks.
  • A track record of building and delivering L&D strategies and programmes.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience with digital learning solutions and e-learning platforms.

L&D qualifications (CIPD L&D Level 5+ or equivalent), clinical training background, knowledge of apprenticeships and funding frameworks, LMS experience is desirable.
