SALARY: £24,189 - £24,379 per annum Excellent Benefits

LOCATION: Coventry, West Midlands (CV4)

JOB TYPE: Full-Time, Permanent

WORKING HOURS: 36.5 hours per week that will include evenings and weekends. Flexibility is required to meet the needs of the business which will require some longer shifts

JOB OVERVIEW

We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Commis Chef/ Kitchen Assistant/ Cookwho loves good food and has basic kitchen skills to join a team that puts a modern twist on traditional pub food, serving real value-for-money meals using locally sourced products.

The organisation is looking to hire passionate people to prepare and serve their take on the traditional pub style menu as part of a team in a large open plan kitchen with a 160+-capacity venue. High standards, passion and exemplary food hygiene are essential, as well as serving their customers with a friendly smile.

Working as the Commis Chef / Kitchen Assistant / Cookno two days will be the same, you will support the busy kitchen team to prepare and serve the ever-evolving menu and core of weekly speciality dishes to customers. You will need to have a good knowledge and passion for food and drink, be confident with basic kitchen skills, and be able to provide excellent service under pressure.

DUTIES

Your duties as a Commis Chef / Kitchen Assistant/ Cookwill include:

Main Duties / Responsibilities

• Help prepare and serve food for sale to a high standard
• Serve customers in a friendly and helpful manner, according to organisational policy on customer care and outlet service standards
• Keep the preparation and service areas clean and tidy and free from rubbish
• Operate all machinery and equipment in a correct and safe manner
• Abide by current legislation and organisational policy concerning food hygiene, health, safety and fire
• Commit to reducing the environmental impact and promote environmental and ethical good practice

Expected Standards

• Work alongside our trained chefs and follow hygiene regulations and systems at all times.
• Comply with trading standards legislation at all times
• Able to use all kitchen equipment without supervision
• Able to prep to the required standard without supervision
• Maintain set portion control
• Ensure stock is rotated
• Contribute to the further development of menus
• Sign for receipt of deliveries
• Promote good customer care at all times.
• Implement Customer Care standards
• Ensure cleaning standards are maintained
• Assist the team in deep cleaning tasks

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

Essential

• Good understanding of customer care and a team player
• Ability to use your own initiative and work well under pressure
• Experience in cash handling
• Approachable and professional manner
• Understanding of health, safety and hygiene requirements
• Commitment to equality of opportunity
• Effective organisational and time management skills

Desirable

• Basic hygiene certificate
• Experience of working within a kitchen
