Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Marketing Executive to join us on a fixed-term contract.

Based at The Grand, York, and working as part of the wider Splendid Hospitality Group, you will support the Head of Marketing in delivering the overall Marketing and Communications strategy.

This is a varied and creative role where you’ll oversee day-to-day marketing activity across email marketing, social media management, photography and videography, website optimisation, and collateral design. You’ll act as a brand guardian, ensuring The Grand is consistently positioned as a luxury property, while also upholding the brand standards and expectations of IHG, Marriott, and Accor across our core hotels.

As a key point of contact for hotel teams—particularly at The Grand—as well as affiliate partners and suppliers, you will maintain strong, professional working relationships and collaborate closely with both Heads of Marketing. Together, you’ll ensure the business continues to adapt to market trends, staying relevant and competitive.

Finally, you will be responsible for monitoring and reporting on the success of all campaigns and promotions, providing insights to support commercial decision-making by the Head of Marketing – Hotels and the Head of Marketing – The Grand, York.

Role in our Family

The Role

  • Manage and grow social media channels, including content creation, planning, and scheduling.
  • Lead email marketing campaigns, including creation, segmentation, planning, and execution.
  • Monitor and report on campaign performance, providing analysis and recommendations.
  • Take ownership of photography and videography, including planning and leading shoots.
  • Support digital PR and PR initiatives, including influencer partnerships.
  • Design marketing collateral in line with brand guidelines.
  • Optimise website content to drive engagement and conversion.

The Team

  • Grow social media platforms in terms of engagement and follower base.
  • Deliver clear and consistent reporting to demonstrate campaign success.
  • Support revenue growth by driving direct business % and conversion via The Grand website (Rooms, Spa, Cookery School, Vouchers).
  • Deliver creative campaigns that align with the Hotel Revenue Strategy and The Grand’s future positioning.
  • Identify trends and adjust strategies to remain competitive.
  • Collaborate across hotel functions to ensure alignment with the overall strategy.

  • Able to manage multiple tasks, prioritising effectively to meet deadlines.
  • Imaginative and confident in creating engaging, on-brand social media content.
  • A clear communicator, able to engage with colleagues (including senior management), guests, and external partners.
  • Genuinely passionate about marketing, brand storytelling, and delivering an exceptional guest experience.
  • A team player and “people person” who builds and maintains positive working relationships.
  • Organised, with excellent time management skills and pride in delivering high-quality work.
  • Proactive, hands-on, and willing to take initiative to make things happen.
  • Detail-oriented with a strong eye for design and presentation.
  • Eager to learn and continuously develop your skills.
  • Professional, confident, and comfortable representing The Grand and Splendid Hospitality Group externally, including with journalists and clients.
  • Available to start quickly and commit to a Fixed Term Contract

Preferred Experience

  • Strong IT skills across Microsoft platforms.
  • Experience with Canva and social media scheduling tools (e.g. Later, Hootsuite).
  • Experience creating and sending email campaigns (e.g. via Hootsuite or CRM tools).
  • Knowledge of Wordpress or other CMS (desirable, not essential).
  • Adobe Creative Suite skills (desirable, not essential).
