The Barista plays a key role in delivering an outstanding café experience by preparing high-quality beverages, providing excellent customer service, and maintaining a clean and welcoming environment. This role requires passion for coffee, attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced setting.

Key Responsibilities

Coffee & Beverage Preparation

  • Prepare and serve coffee, espresso-based drinks, teas, juices, smoothies, and other beverages to café standards.
  • Maintain consistency in recipes, flavour, and presentation.
  • Assist with calibration of espresso machines and grinders.
  • Monitor stock of coffee beans, milk, syrups, and related supplies.
  • Prepare batches for juices, smoothies and all necessary ingredients following the par levels.

Customer Service

  • Provide a friendly, welcoming experience for all guests.
  • Take orders accurately and efficiently.
  • Educate customers about menu items, coffee options, and brewing methods.
  • Handle customer feedback and resolve minor concerns in a positive manner.

Operations & Cleanliness

  • Keep the bar and café areas clean, organized, and well-stocked.
  • Follow hygiene, food safety, and workplace safety guidelines.
  • Perform regular equipment cleaning and report any maintenance issues.
  • Assist in reducing waste and supporting overall café efficiency.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a barista or in a customer service role (preferred).
  • Knowledge of specialty coffee and brewing methods (training available).
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work quickly while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Flexible schedule availability, including weekends and holidays.
  • Food Safety certification (a plus).

Working Conditions

  • Fast-paced café environment.
