Job description – Golf Course Maintenance Operative

Job Title: Golf Course Maintenance Operative (with specific duties focused on monitoring and maintaining the dune face of the golf course) on a daily / weekly basis.
Department: Golf Maintenance
Responsible To: Golf Course Superintendent
Main Purpose of Job: To monitor and maintain the dune face using various methods, to minimise the impact of erosion on the golf course and the land overall. The areas to be maintained run along the golf course from the southern end (hole 18) to the northern end (hole 9).
Liaises with: Golf Course Superintendent and General Manager
MAIN DUTIES
- Inserting, monitoring and maintaining structures (pallets, netting, marram grasses….otherwise known as soft measures) that are designed to capture sand, stabilise the dune face and minimise / grow the land f the golf course seawards where possible.
- Harvesting and sprigging marram grass on the dune face.
- Creating additional structure work that will help to accumulate sand, seeding, & hydroseeding
- Operates some light powered equipment if required to achieve the above objective (Training may be required).
- To ensure signage remains in place that discourages members of the public climbing the dune face.
- To assess and report back on the condition of the dune face following storm events.
- To work in association with the Golf Course Superintendent in maintaining a photographic record of the dune face in paces or overall, weekly.
- Picking any litter or debris that may occur daily.
- Reports all findings to the Superintendent/Assistant Superintendent and General Manager.
- To be actively engaged and proactive in seeking solutions in relation to this important matter.
- Perform other ad-hoc duties as assigned by Management.
