Are you an experienced Compliance Manager with knowledge of mental health/ Learning Disabilities/ Neurological services and how they work, have excellent communication skills, exercise diplomacy and have a strong eye for detail? If so, join Elysium Healthcare as the Compliance Manager where you will be checking compliance of Elysium’s services with national regulatory standards and best practice.

This is not an audit role where there are clear right and wrong answers this is about reviewing care records, spotting a potential issue and following up by utilising other information sources to see if the issue is real.

You will be part of a small central team named, ‘Provider Compliance Assessment Team’, reporting to Director of Policy and Regulation. As part of this role you will work closely with key regional stakeholders including Regional Directors, Quality Leads, and Registered Managers to ensure we have a collaborative approach to overseeing regulatory compliance.

In this supportive function, you will undertake PCA reviews, assessing services against CQC SAF framework, HSCA Regulations as well as corporate policy/operational procedures.  Services will use your reports and action plans to drive improvement; you will monitor progress around regulatory compliance over the year and escalate concerns where necessary.  

This is a home-based role, working 37.5 hours.  There will be a requirement to travel frequently to our hospitals and care homes which are based throughout the country. Some stays may require overnight stays away from home.

Other responsibilities:

  • Monitoring and following up all requirements and recommendations made by external bodies including CQC, HIW and CIW.
  • Monitoring and reporting on compliance with Elysium Healthcare policies.
  • Ensuring that communication with all internal and external contacts is undertaken in a professional, courteous, and responsive manner in line with contractual and regulatory obligations.
  • Reporting any serious issues of concern found during a visit to the Director of Policy and Regulation as soon as is practicably possible by email or phone.
  • Working in line with Elysium Healthcare policies and procedures, including confidentiality and security of data, at all times and maintain a safe and healthy work environment.
  • Keep up to date with regulatory requirements.

To be successful in this role you will need: 

  • Experience in a similar post, working with our Regulators or as a Registered Manager or senior hospital/care home clinician with experience working in mental health/ neurological / Leaning disabilities services
  • The ability to drill down into detail and triangulate with other information to form a view on whether the service is compliant with expectations, being able to articulate why and how that view was formed.
  • An understanding of the health and social care regulatory frameworks in England and Wales
  • A demonstrable understanding of mental health services, MHA Code of Practice, Mental Capacity Act, Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards, and overall Safeguarding
  • Experience in communicating with staff at all levels in both group and individual situations.
  • Experience in meeting with service users/patients/residents and being able to communicate effectively with those in mental health, learning disability, complex care, brain injury and young peoples’ services.
  • Ability to work and stay away from home whilst undertaking visits to sites in England and Wales
  • Full UK driving license and access to a vehicle for the purpose of fulfilling this role.
