Perched atop Lincoln's iconic Steep Hill, The Wig & Mitre is a distinguished 14th-century Grade II listed pub-restaurant that seamlessly blends historical charm with contemporary hospitality. Nestled between the majestic Lincoln Cathedral and the historic Lincoln Castle, this pub offers guests an authentic experience steeped in history and character.
The interior of the pub is packed full of characterful rooms spread over two floors, featuring exposed brick and stone walls, beamed ceilings, and feature fireplaces. With approximately 100 covers, including two private dining rooms, The Wig & Mitre provides versatile spaces for various occasions, from intimate dinners to larger gatherings.
The job in a nutshell
Assist with the preparation and cooking of menu items under the guidance of senior chefs
Maintain high standards of cleanliness, organisation, and food hygiene
Learn how to manage ingredients, prep, plating, and kitchen safety
Support the team during busy service times and contribute to a positive kitchen environment
Take every opportunity to grow your skills and confidence
A genuine interest in food and cooking
A strong work ethic and a willingness to learn
Good communication skills and a team-focused attitude
Ability to take instruction and work calmly under pressure
Previous kitchen experience is helpful but not essential – full training provided
