Job Opportunity: Temporary Kitchen Assistant – August Cover

Are you a friendly, proactive individual with a passion for supporting others? We’re seeking a dedicated Kitchen Assistant to join our team on a temporary basis for August shifts. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain experience within a caring environment, supporting our kitchen team and ensuring our residents receive nutritious and delicious meals.

Role Overview:

As a Kitchen Assistant, you will support the kitchen team in daily operations, assisting with meal preparation, cleaning, and ensuring a high standard of hygiene and safety. You will communicate effectively with care staff and help promote a positive environment for our residents.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist the Head Chef with preparing and serving meals, ensuring they meet residents’ dietary needs.
• Support with cleaning, washing up, and maintaining hygiene standards in line with health and safety regulations.
• Properly store food items, monitor stock rotation, and minimize waste.
• Ensure all kitchen equipment is kept in good working order and report any faults.
• Follow food safety and hygiene procedures at all times.
• Collaborate effectively with care staff to understand residents’ dietary requirements and preferences.
• Maintain a clean, tidy, and professional appearance.

Working with Others:

• Build positive relationships with team members and support less experienced colleagues.
• Attend team meetings and contribute to a supportive team environment.
• Promote health and safety standards, reporting hazards promptly.
• Communicate clearly with care staff regarding residents’ dietary needs.

Personal & Professional Development:

• Be open to learning new skills and attending relevant training sessions.
• Understand the importance of person-centred care and dietary considerations.
