Job Description

Baxterstorey is seeking a talented and enthusiastic Commis Chef to join our culinary team in Caldecotte, United Kingdom. As a Commis Chef, you will play a crucial role in supporting our kitchen operations and contributing to the creation of exceptional dining experiences for our guests.

  • Assist in the preparation and cooking of high-quality dishes according to recipes and specifications
  • Support senior chefs in various kitchen stations, including vegetable preparation, meat preparation, and pastry
  • Maintain a clean and organised work environment, adhering to food safety and hygiene standards
  • Learn and apply various culinary techniques and cooking methods
  • Assist with stock rotation and inventory management
  • Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure smooth service delivery
  • Participate in menu development and contribute creative ideas for new dishes
  • Adapt to a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks efficiently


Qualifications

  • Passion for cooking and a keen interest in developing culinary skills
  • Basic understanding of various cooking techniques and food preparation methods
  • Ability to operate standard kitchen equipment safely and efficiently
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high-quality standards
  • Excellent teamwork skills and ability to work collaboratively in a busy kitchen environment
  • Good time management and organisational skills
  • Knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices
  • Culinary arts qualification or equivalent (preferred)
  • Previous kitchen experience, even in a trainee capacity (desirable)
  • Flexibility to work varying shifts, including evenings and weekends
  • Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and lift heavy items when required
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new culinary trends and techniques
