Greenmeadow Community Farm is preparing to open its gates in August 2025, and weâre looking for a passionate, creative, and experienced Head Chef to lead the kitchen team across our brand-new, multi-outlet catering operation.

Job Description
Key Responsibilities
As Head Chef, youâll play a pivotal role in launching and leading a vibrant, multi-outlet kitchen operation at one of the regionâs most exciting new destinations. Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading the culinary direction across the farmâs food outlets, including the Farmshop, CafĂ© Restaurant, Barista Coffee Bar, Playbarn CafĂ©, Concessions, and Events & Hospitality spaces
- Building and managing a skilled kitchen team, ensuring high standards of food quality, safety, and hygiene across all outlets
- Overseeing daily kitchen operations, including food preparation, stock control, supplier relationships, allergen management, and cost control
- Collaborating with front-of-house and events teams to deliver seamless service for school visits, seasonal events, weddings, and private functions
- Maintaining consistency and excellence across a logistically varied site, ensuring smooth kitchen operations and timely service
- Implementing and upholding food safety and quality standards, including full compliance with HACCP procedures
- Delivering exceptional hospitality experiences through creative, seasonal, and locally inspired menus
- Driving innovation and continuous improvement, adapting menus and operations based on feedback, trends, and evolving visitor needs
Qualifications
â Â What Weâre Looking For:
- Proven experience as a Head Chef or Senior Sous Chef in a high-volume, quality-focused environment
- A strong background in wedding and event cateringâyou know how to deliver under pressure and exceed expectations
- A track record of leading, training, and motivating kitchen teams to deliver consistently high standards
- Financially astute, with experience in managing food costs, GP, stock control, and supplier relationships
- Excellent coaching, delegation, and leadership skillsâyou lead by example and bring out the best in others
- Highly organised, detail-oriented, and calm under pressure, even during peak service
- An empathetic and effective communicator with a collaborative, solution-focused mindset
- Strong menu development, planning, and critical reasoning skills
- Able to work 5 out of 7 days, including weekends and evenings as required by the operation
