Job Description
To purpose of the role is to assist the with the safe supervision alongside and in the absence of the Head chef, all food production preparation, cooking and presentation, ensuring the company’s reputation food quality is maintained at all times.
- To ensure food production, standards, costs and menu planning are carried out in a timely fashion, as agreed with the Head Chef
- To assist the Head Chef with compiling food orders and developing new food concept and menu ideas for the restaurant
- To plan, prepare, cook and present food to the standards required by the company and the client.
- To ensure that the company’s reputation for excellent food and service is enhanced with the client and customers.
- Actively take part in menu engineering alongside Head Chef, taking into consideration financial requirements and seasonal items
- The ability to keep calm under pressure and communicate effectively with the team
- To be organised and efficient with tasks and time management
- To be able to take ownership of tasks as directed by senior chefs
- To inspire, motivate and mentor junior members of the team
- Promote and maintain a safe working environment
- To have knowledge and understanding of current food trends and seasonality
Qualifications
- Experience in a previous role, ideally in a contract catering environment
- Have a good understanding of Food, Health & Safety, including allergens and nutritional information
- Ability to prioritise workload
- Good communication verbally and written
- Passion for food, and innovative with new ideas
- Good team management
