Location: Streatham Hill, London SW1 
Salary: £13.85 per hour + overtime available
Hours: 40 hours per week, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM, Term time only

About the Role:

We have an exciting opportunity for a dedicated Kitchen Porter (General Assistant) to join our team at a prestigious independent school in Streatham Hill. As part of a 5-day operation catering to 650 day pupils and staff, this role plays a crucial part in maintaining kitchen hygiene, supporting food preparation, and ensuring smooth day-to-day operations.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen and service areas

  • Assist chefs with basic food preparation

  • Ensure all equipment and workspaces are clean and organized

  • Support the smooth running of lunch service and hospitality events

  • Follow health and safety regulations at all times



Qualifications

 

  • Previous experience in a similar role, preferably in an educational setting (desirable)
  • Good understanding of health and safety regulations in a kitchen environment
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent teamwork and communication abilities
  • Outstanding customer service skills
  • Flexible and adaptable approach to work, including willingness to work evenings and weekends
  • Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and lift heavy items (up to 50 lbs)
  • Basic food handling and hygiene knowledge
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Effective time management skills
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn
  • High school diploma or equivalent (preferred)
