As the Assistant Director of Engineering, you will assist the Director of Engineering in managing budget, capital expenditures, preventative maintenance programs, and daily assignments for staff and contractors. With overall responsibility for maintaining the buildings and grounds with particular attention towards safety, security and asset protection, the Assistant Director assigns, tracks and follows up on the status of work assigned to staff and contractors and ensures guest and team member satisfaction. This is a full time salaried position.
Responsibilities
- Assist in overseeing the day-to-day operations of the engineering department, including managing
- a team of engineers. Ensuring the team’s adherence to hotel policies, safety standards, and schedules
- Perform regular inspections of the hotel’s facilities to ensure all mechanical and technical systems are in good working order
- Support the maintenance and upkeep of the building’s infrastructure, including HVAC systems, lighting, plumbing, electrical systems, interior, paint, decorating and other equipment.
- Manage preventative maintenance programs to minimize downtime and extend the life of hotel assets.
- Respond promptly to emergency maintenance requests, ensuring minimal disruption to hotel operations and guest experiences.
- Coordinate with outside contractors for special projects, renovations, or upgrades.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as brand standards, health and safety requirements.
- Contribute to energy conservation initiatives and the hotel’s sustainability goals and maintain and update maintenance logs, records, and reports.
- Assist in the hiring, training, supervision, scheduling, counseling, and evaluation of performance and planning the activities of maintenance staff including making spot checks on a daily basis.
- Ensure compliance with all regulations regarding H &S for both employees and guests
- Assists department head in managing budget, capital expenditures, preventative maintenance and energy conservation.
- Prepare requisitions for purchase and work orders and liaise effectively with the Director of Purchasing.
- Assigns, tracks and follows up on status of work assigned to staff and contractors.
- Supervises distribution of repair work orders.
- Assists in performing operational activities as necessary.
- Displays leadership in guest hospitality by exemplifying excellent customer service and creating a positive atmosphere for guest relations.
- Acts as technical liaisons for all departments in property.
