Role Description
As a Bar Support at Seven Dials Market by KERB, reporting to the Bar Supervisor, you will play a key role in delivering outstanding hospitality by supporting an awesome and high-performing bar team, serving a diverse selection of drinks from independent brewers and businesses. The primary responsibilities of this role will include assisting with bar opening and closing procedures and performing various behind-the-bar tasks, such as restocking the bar and preparing garnishes. Ultimately, you’ll be critical to ensuring that our guests have a memorable experience through ‘Exceptional Hospitality’. This position is well suited to someone with a strong interest in being a part of KERB, ideally, with a good understanding of casual food and beverage service. You should have experience working in a fast-paced setting, with a strong team player mindset .
Whilst a background in the street food scene and experience in high-volume bars or hospitality is highly desirable, the most important qualities you bring to the role are a positive/flexible attitude and excellent communication skills.
Responsibilities
- Providing an exceptional service to our guests and answering any queries, complaints/issues and escalate to line manager when necessary
- Taking direction from senior members of the team, but also using your initiative to work independently and maintain a calm and professional approach in a busy environment
- Supporting with bar set-up ready for opening - chopping fruit and garnishes, preparing juices, final cleandown
- Putting away deliveries and restocking the bars, following the ‘first in first out’ procedure
- Refilling ice wells and changing kegs and gas
- Clean down and re-set for the following day, including but not limited to waste removal, washing-up, stock take, switching off electrical items, rotate stock as necessary
- Assist with cleaning and putting away glassware
- Maintaining clean counters and keeping bar areas tidy
- Working closely with management team to ensure that Health & Safety standards are maintained
Requirements and skills
Essential
- A positive and flexible attitude, with the ability to think laterally and willing to problem solve
- A love of brilliant food and drink
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent people skills, able to communicate confidently with staff, guests and traders
- Confident in lifting beer kegs, holding trays of bottles and glassware
- Availability to work during evenings, weekends and public holidays
Desired but not essential
- Interest in the hospitality industry; previous entry-level experience in a bar or restaurant is not mandatory, but will be considered a plus
