Job Description

We are looking for an experienced project manager with a proven track record leading teams and managing complex projects to lead our project teams at our Heathrow location.

As a Lead Project Manager, you will play a key role in our dynamic team, reporting directly to the UK Strategic Project Lead. Your primary responsibility will be to establish a central Project Management Office and oversee a range of high profile projects from initiation to completion. 

Responsibilities:

  1. Strategy:
    1. You will be part of the establishment of the PMO office for the unit. This includes setting up governance models, and processes, and identifying key performance indicators (KPI) to measure the success of the projects in the UK unit.
    2. It will be part of your daily work to analyze the current internal situation, recommend strategic actions, prioritize them, and ultimately create business cases including feasibility, return of investment, and solution evaluation.
  2. Project Management:
    1. Establish a Project Management Office (PMO) and a more structured and streamlined approach for project management in our unit to enhance project governance and execution.
    2. Ensure that all projects are delivered within the agreed timelines, scope, and budget while also meeting the required quality standards.
    3. Drive strategic projects for performance improvement across the business.
    4. Implement and maintain project momentum through touchpoints with operational managers.
  3. Technology adoption in the business:
    1. Identify opportunities to enhance technology adoption, collaborating with stakeholders.
    2. Support vendors on development plans to drive change management through new software, including identifying the most relevant business scenarios ensuring they are protected or enhanced when transitioning into new systems.
  4. Data and Analysis:
    1. Create reports to provide regular project status updates to senior management, highlighting project performance, risks, and opportunities.
    2. Create analyses and presentations for Senior Management's decision-making.
    3. Conduct market research to identify industry best practices.
  5. Stakeholder Management:
    1. You will work closely with other business units and clients to identify project requirements, provide guidance to team members, and develop efficient and effective project plans. You must also be able to develop and maintain strong business relationships with stakeholders, including senior leadership.
    2. Collaborate with team members to resolve project-related issues, including resource allocation, scope change, and risk management. 
  6. Coaching and Team leadership:
    1. You should provide guidance and mentoring to team members, ensuring that they consistently follow project management best practices and ethical ways of working.
    2. Manage project team members and assign tasks, ensuring they are appropriately trained, motivated, and held accountable.

Qualifications

  • A strong sense of ownership and motivation to drive transformation
  • Previous consulting experience highly encouraged
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel and PowerPoint, is mandatory
  • Valid and confirmed project management certification (PMP or PRINCE2) is desirable
  • Strong experience developing and managing project plans within various project management frameworks (e.g., Agile, Waterfall) involving project management software
  • Interpersonal skills: Effective leadership skills with different stakeholders. Integrity and approachability, as managers and staff must feel able to discuss sensitive and confidential issues with you
  • Analytical skills and mindset: Experience in forecasting and managing project budgets, schedules, and project risks
  • Communication skills: You are an articulate communicator and very comfortable leading senior meetings, workshops, and training sessions as well as engaging from top to bottom-line management
  • Understanding the airline catering or food industry is beneficial
